MPD Arrests Suspect in West Virginia Avenue Homicide

 

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred in Northeast.

On Saturday, October 3, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m. Fifth District officers responded to 1900 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival an adult male victim was located suffering from sharp force injuries. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local area hospital where despite all lifesaving efforts the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 34-year-old Maurice Justice, of Southeast, D.C.

Soon after officers arrived on the scene they located and arrested the suspect, 44-year-old Kenneth Brock-Smith of Northeast, D.C. He was transported to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.
